Free outdoor gigs - 10th August - Red Lion Square, Holborn
Me and Bobby
Tom McKean & the Emperors
Elisabeth Yndestad
Lunchtime concert - 12-2pm
Evening concert - 6-8pm
Me and Bobby will be playing 2 special outdoor gigs on Thursday 10th August, as part of the "Summer in Holborn" series - a lunchtime and evening set. Also appearing will be Tom McKean & the Emperors, a great new band some of you will have seen at our last 43 South Molton Street gig, and which features Bobby, Fay and Andy from Me and Bobby. Finally, our great friend Elisabeth Yndestad is coming over from Norway to play her beautiful songs.
This is going to be a really great triple-bill - and the first time some of us have played 4 gigs in a day!
Try to get there before the start of each session, as Red Lion Square is expected to be pretty busy and you'll want to grab yourself a nice patch of grass...

Hope to see you there!

Free acoustic show - 43 South Molton Street - Monday 17th October
Back in September 2001, when we released our debut single, we played a launch party in a tiny basement bar in Fitzrovia. All was going well until half-way through the 3rd song of the set, when a sudden power-cut deprived the venue of its sound-system, lights and beer pumps… Undeterred, we finished the song un-amplified, to huge cheers, and the evening quickly became the most memorable gig we've played – everyone stayed, candles and bicycle lamps were lit, a warm glow and hushed atmosphere descended on the room and the crowd enjoyed an evening of delicate acoustic music in its most natural and un-spoiled form.
On Monday 17th October, we will be resurrecting the magical ambience and spirit of that night, in the gorgeous setting of exclusive private members club, 43 South Molton Street. We will play a long set, in a totally acoustic, candle-lit setting, allowing you to hear every nuance of every instrument with the kind of detail that modern gig-going can never allow.
This is a rare opportunity to hear our music as it is meant to be heard, in the most relaxed setting possible… and this time, the beer won’t run out.
43 South Molton Street, London W1K 5RS (just round the corner from Bond Street tube)
Doors: 8pm
Performance from 8.30pm

Me and Bobby has now put some songs out on a Norwegian site for possible air time on NRKp3 in Norway. For those who want to have a listen and vote on the songs, visit the web-site (sorry, it's in Norwegian..) And for those who simply prefer to see us live, comon down to The 12Bar on Monday:-)
To complement 'Nan's 33', I bring you... 'Bobby's Septembersongs', an ever-changing collection of my lyrics. I chose 'SeptemberSongs' as a title since 'Number 33' and 'September' were the two double a-sides of our 2001 7" single - our first ever release!

For all you people who wonder what on earth I'm singing at the gigs, or for those who just want to read up on the lyrics when we're not gigging......I give you ...ta-ta...'Nan's 33', a very stylish link, which will be even stylisher when I figure out how to put it as a link on the left of the screen... For now, click on the link and it'll take you right there!
We've opened up this thread for you to tell us your thoughts about the current live Me and Bobby set - what are your favourite songs, what did you think of the last gig etc.

Things have been busy on the M&B front lately - even with Nan currently living in Norway we've been getting up to all sorts... First up, we've recently been in Konk Studios (owned by none other than Ray Davies of the Kinks), recording some new tracks. We've done new songs Circumstance and Resonate and new versions of Capsized, Big Dumb Love Song and Another Song. We've also recorded More Time for the first time ever... These recordings are far more ambitious than anything we've done before and are recorded beautifully, thanks to engineers Graham, Nick and Ben. We've kept that simple, stripped down M&B sound, but also added double bass and drums on some songs - the overall feel we wanted was 'live and natural' and, by George, I think we got it! I'll put some clips up soon for you to hear, and a CD will be available in the not-too-distant future.
There are also a few gigs on the horizon. We'll be playing the 12-Bar Club at the start of June (details to follow), and some more gigs in July or August. Stay tuned for details...
Hello and welcome to the Me and Bobby blog. We're not quite sure what to do with it yet, but we've got all sorts of ideas, so hopefully this will become a more engaging, useful and interesting place to find out about the band. We're hoping, in time, to include all the usual websitey things like songs to download and pictures, but it'll all be arranged in a slightly haphazard, chronological order so you might have to root around a bit to find things - our hope is that this will be a bit more fun than clicking on a page marked 'songs' to hear some songs, 'pics' to see some pics etc. However, you'll always find news of our latest forthcoming gigs somewhere near the top, cos we wouldn't want you to miss those! There will also be some discussion threads left open for you to leave your thoughts, get in touch, whatever.
This is presently the only official source of Me and Bobby news on the weird wonky web (not counting all those bothersome fan-sites).
So, here we go - together in electric dreams...
